Faith

1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. 2This is what the ancients were commended for. 3By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command (Heb 11)

I wrote last on Sunday and we’ve done some really neat activities since that time that I hope to write to you about soon, but I feel like the Lord wants me to write about something else tonight. To ask you for prayer and to encourage you with some verses that are currently encouraging me. Please pray that our Lord Jesus would give me faith. Faith to trust in Him for the future – and everything that comes with it. He’s given me a direction to go towards in college (of which I’m very excited about), but there are so many other things that are tempting me to worry. The future is so unseen and unknown, but isn’t that what the Lord gives us faith for. “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Though I don’t know what lies ahead, I (and we) would be a fool not to look back at the past and see that He truly never leaves neither walks away from us. Pray that I would be “sure of what I hope for and certain of what I do not see.” I know the Lord is Jehovah Jireh – our Provider. Be encouraged dear brothers and sisters that the Lord is unchanging and never goes back on His promises! “4By faith Abel... 5By faith Enoch... 7By faith Noah... 8By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going... 10For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God...” Hebrews 11 talks about so many who lived by faith – a faith that looked past this life, that trusted in God’s promises. They “33through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, 34quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength...” Whose weakness was turned to strength Wow! The Lord uses our weaknesses mightily! Right now I feel so weak in so many areas, but I know that the Lord will use that if I give it to Him and I ask that you would join me in prayer that I would give my weaknesses and doubts over to Him... and I urge you to do the same for He will hear your cries! For “6He rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

“1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Heb 12:1-3)
