His Lovingkindness
Psalm 42 has been a favorite Psalm to me over this last year and I’d like to share with you a quickie from it today! In Psalm 42 the Psalmist cries out to God saying his soul pants for God, the living God. His cry is one of despair and longing as he questions his soul “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? (vs5)” But he also recognizes and remembers who the Lord is and tells his soul to “Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence. (vs 5)” Later in verse 8 he writes down a really encouraging promise, “The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; and His song will be with me in the night.” Tonight (Thursday) I’ve been blessed with yet another reminder to continually put my hope (and faith) in the Lord because of His lovingkindness that always shines through. Sometimes it comes quickly to those who cry out to Him in their distress, sometimes slowly, and even sometimes we won’t see it in this life – but His lovingkindess always comes. And on top of all that I’m blessed to be listening to the local church singing praise to Jesus in another language only 15 meters away! I’m sorry if this post and the last requesting prayer were kind of ambiguous but know that I’m very thankful for your prayers! I challenge you to continually put your hope in God if you’re currently going through a hard time and I triple challenge you to check out Psalm 130 on your own! Actually I’ll make it easy for ya – here’s the link: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+130.
