Cement and Bush knives!

Cement, cement, and more cement! Today we finished laying the foundation for the addon to the Stapleton’s house. I’ve lost count of how many wheelbarrow loads of cement we mixed, but definitely enough to give me a much better idea of how much water, cement, and sand/rock mixture to use. I’m sure this will come in very handy in the future when I need to build stuff. The finished work of this day is picture in a photo taken the next morning. Our friendly neighbor, Nasu, brought some more bananas again, much to my bellies delight! JohnMark, David, and Maxwell caught some yummy shrimp and shared. Sierra and some of her friends also caught a ton of 4 inch fish and shared them. Oh and I also had some fun with a bush knife this mornin’ (a bush knife is a little longer than a foot and is used for pretty much everything imaginable by the Ni-Vanuatu people). We used bamboo in place of wires for a framework for the cement to hold to. They’re really sturdy and lots of fun to hack into usable strips.
I’ve got quite a few pictures from the last week and I’ll put some of them on facebook. Here is the link to them - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=110722&id=559771287&l=12e4a69078 For the future though, I think I’ll use my camera sparingly because the lens sounds like it might be on its death bed. Hopefully between the Stapleton’s camera this week and Nika’s next week I can get a few good ones to post but you might just have to rely on your imagination for some things.
I’m thankful for a bit of rest tonight and a chance to watch Erik do some work on translating Luke! Pray that I would continue to work hard, get plenty of good rest each night, keep an open mind for observing everything, and give the Lord the first part of every morning. I praise the Lord for opening up some good conversations with Erik and ask you to pray that the Lord would continue to open them up!
